As we follow the recent news of an active war zone in Ukraine, we are concerned about the safety and humanitarian needs of our Slavic and Eastern European community. We know that families and loved ones are here in Oregon, and we extend our compassion and support to them during this frightening, difficult, and unstable time. We recognize that local communities are afraid of hate crimes, ethnic conflict, and being subjected to polarizing division within the community. We recognize the importance of welcoming new arrivals, especially advocating for increased capacity for asylum seekers through relocations to the U.S. IRCO stands with our Slavic and Eastern European community in solidarity for peace and healing.
