Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 3:30pm - 5:30pm.

Position Description:

Mill Park SUN programs serve to support Mill Park Elementary students and families through academic partnerships, extended day programming, and wrap around services. Volunteers at Mill Park are integral to the well-being of our community. Whether it is leading reading groups, running a chess club, or serving food and drink at one of our community events, IRCO volunteers partnered with Mill Park make direct connections with students, families, and staff for positive community outcomes. Current Mill Park SUN program operations include SUN School Extended Day Programming, Mill Park Food Pantry.

Position Summary:

Mill Park’s SUN Extended Day Program provides enrichment and academic services to enrolled Mill Park Elementary students. Volunteers will be involved with facilitating small-groups and classes through activities such as Open Gym, Cooking, Arts and Crafts and many more! Mill Park volunteers will regularly engage in face-to-face communication with students and/or parents. Volunteers work under a SUN Site Manager. Volunteers may facilitate groups and classes depending on program needs. Volunteers may help students with academics, math, science, and literacy lessons, as well as with group games and activities.
Our school is looking for volunteers that are culturally diverse and responsive, with a strong capacity to listen and grow with our students. Volunteers should have an interest in early childhood education.

• High School degree or equivalent is preferred. Experience working in the field may be considered as equivalent.
• Bilingual/bicultural applicants are encouraged to apply.
• Enthusiastic attitude and passion for education.
• Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures.
• Those with interest in cooking instruction must provide up-to-date Food Handler’s Certification.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 or older
• Must pass background check

Time Commitment:

Time Commitment: Volunteers facilitating groups will be expected to commit at least 8 weeks per term, with a 1 day/week minimum requirement of attendance. Volunteers may choose one or multiple terms they would like to volunteer for (spring, summer, winter, fall). Program days run from 3:30 – 5:30pm, Monday - Thursday.
