Math Tutor GMEC Culturally Specific After School Learning (CSASL) Program Volunteer

Schedule:

In person, at the Greater Middle East Center on Griffith Dr. in Beaverton.

Weekly, 1- 2 hr. sessions, 4pm-5:30pm on weekdays and 11am-1pm on Saturdays. Occasional longer workshops on Fridays and/or Saturdays.

Program Description:

The GMEC CSASL Program will provide programming which focuses on addressing unfinished learning through academic and mental health supports, cultural identity development, leadership and self-advocacy skills, and giving back to the community to middle and high school students who identify as Greater Middle Eastern.

Position Summary:

GMEC CSASL Volunteers will tutor middle and high school students, help keep participants engaged in group workshops and activities, and aid with set up and/or break down of workshop activities. Volunteers should have experience in tutoring in math.

Volunteers should either have experience tutoring or teaching middle and high school students. Volunteers should be culturally responsive and have an understanding of immigrant and refugee community dynamics.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 or older
• Must pass background check

Time Commitment:

Through the end of September 2024.
