Match Grant Program activities will be in-person. Locations vary and include supporting clients at their home, IRCO Main office, employer worksite, ESL & Employment Training classes, virtual, or children’s school.

1-2 times a week for 2-6 hours a week. Exact weekly dates and time are flexible around volunteer availability. Set schedule to be developed.

Program Description:

The Matching Grant program helps refugees overcome barriers and quickly find jobs. The intent is for refugees to become economically self-sufficient through employment within 240 days of their arrival. As a volunteer, you will be working with families who qualify for this program.

Position Summary:

As a Match Volunteer you will work alongside the Matching Grant team to directly support newly arrived individuals and families. We are looking for multiple volunteers who can carry out tasks.

You will support them one-on-one or in a group session with the any or a combination of the following Matching Grant activities:

• Weekly English tutoring /English classes
• Teaching US work-culture and navigating resources
• Supporting with job/life skill development (mock interviews, how to send an email etc)
• Developing a resume and support with online job applicants/job referrals
• Transportation to job interviews or job search activities
• Guiding participants on how to track and manage their bills, finances and budget
• School enrollment or after school activities
• Finding donations that connect to MG activities (ie laptops for lessons, bikes for transportation, work appropriate clothes etc.)
• Supporting staff with record keeping of volunteer hours and donations.

There is no previous experience required. However, it is helpful to have volunteers who are multilingual, have teaching or presenting experience, and/or knowledge of US work culture and expectations.

Requirements:

Must be 18 or older

Must pass background check

Must have a valid Driver’s License

Time Commitment:

Opportunities can vary and be flexible for volunteers wanting to help temporarily or commit to supporting/ teaching specific lessons on a schedule basis over a few months.

Expect 2-6 hours a week.

Those interested in teaching should commit to at least 2-6 months.
