Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm

Position Description:

IRCO’s RESJ-WAS youth program seeks to ensure students in our After- School program (Pacific Island, African and Slavic students) are on track to graduate high school with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Through this program, students and families have a safe space within the school system and improve attendance rate, student retention and parents' involvement in their children's school and academic growth.

Position Summary:

Locations: In person at the following high school campuses: Roosevelt High School (6941 N Central St, Portland, OR 97203); Franklin High School (5405 SE Woodward St, Portland, OR 97206); McDaniel High School (2735 NE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97220)

Volunteers will provide tutoring in math, English/literacy and/or science subjects and assist with academic enrichment activities, such as career exploration fieldtrips and workshops. Volunteers should have a passion for working with immigrants and refugee students. A good fit for this opportunity is someone with deep familiarity in high school math (algebra), English and or and science subjects.

Experience tutoring high school students is preferred but not required.

Must be 18 or older

Must pass background check

Time Commitment:

Volunteers should be able to commit to tutoring once or twice weekly throughout the school year.
