Resettlement & Placement – New Home Set-up

New home set-up will take place during regular business hours, as needed, as new refugees arrive. We will generally have at least 48 hours' notice
Position Description:
The Refugee Resettlement & Placement program helps welcome and orient newcomers to life in Portland and The United States. The R&P team assists refugees in finding long-term housing and gainful employment, and connects them to culturally specific services, opportunities, and community. The goal is for refugees to exit the program with the tools and knowledge to be self-sufficient in their new home.
Position Summary:
In this position, you will help set up and organize new houses for Refugees, so they can feel comfortable and safe in their new home. You can expect to do the following:
Working as a team to move and lift furniture up to 50lbs
Assembling furniture and small appliances
Unpacking new and donated goods
Organizing living spaces
Requirements:
Must be 18 or older
Must pass background check
Must complete Heavy Lifting Safety Training
Time Commitment:
This is an ongoing project, and we are looking for dedicated and flexible volunteers that are interested in helping regularly.
